Few months back the whole world was shocked when they learned that a fire completely destroyed the Notre Dame cathedral. It isn’t gone forever and one would be able to visit it in the near future after it gets restored. However, one would miss its previous glory and the iconic spire won’t be a prominent feature of Paris’ skyline.

There are different versions of the Globe Theatre built on the River Thames. Even if one exists today, one won’t know the original one. The original one was destroyed by fire and the second one was closed after religious outcry. The new one is only a few hundred meters from the original one.

  1. Porcelain Tower of Nanjing – Nanjing, China

During the Taiping revolution, this beautiful piece of architecture was destroyed. The reconstructed version raises some hope that it can be visited sometime.

War related conflict destroyed this historical landmark, which people used to visit till a few years back. Being the oldest mosque, the Jonah’s Tomb was a place where people used to go for pilgrimage. Sadly, it has been destroyed.

  1. Love Locks Bridge – Paris, France

As a symbol of love, people used to head to Paris in order to put a lock on this bridge. Years of locks proved too heavy for the bridge and it collapsed in 2014.
